My Thoughts

Thought #2: Comparison is the thief of joy. Anyone who compares themselves to others whether in school, popularity, sports, how many things they have, or even the way they look is not good for one’s soul. When you compare yourself to others it doesn’t help their self esteem either. People need to stop comparing themselves because God made everyone different and you need to accept that and be content with what you were given.

Thought #3: Failure is an event. It is not a person or a program. Do not blame other people for failures they have no control over. A failure is something that just didn’t work but it teaches the person. A mistake is a failure needlessly repeated.

Thought #5: Why is it that weeks feel like years?

Thought #6: If I have learned anything in my 19 years of life, it is to be yourself. Don’t let society dictate who you should be. Stay true to yourself and embrace it.

Thought #8: The question is not how can I be happy, but how can I be right with God?

Thought #12: You are who you hang around. My youth minister has said this phrase for as long as I can remember and when I was in highschool I never really knew how true it was. Being a college student and seeing how people act around different people, this phrase made a lot more sense to me. People shouldn’t change how they act just to fit in.

Thought #13: I wonder if people ever question there existence when they don’t have to talk about it in a Great Books class.

Thought #19: Worry ends where faith begins.

Thought #21: My parents have always said to me and my brother “you should be happy that your parents are still in love in today’s society.” As a kid I remember beating them to saying that phrase because I knew it was coming. I never really understood why my parents would say this until I got older. In today’s world there is so much divorce, that I am very thankful for the lifestyle my parents have given me and that they are still in love today.

Thought #22: First impressions are very important.

Thought #30: Home isn’t a place, its the people you are surrounded by and who you love.

Thought #34: You can’t talk yourself out of a problem that you have behaved yourself into. Actions speak louder than words. The way you behave can get you into trouble, and you won’t be able to talk your way out of it.

Thought #35: People will live up to or down to your expectations. If someone expects a lot from another person, that other person will excel to try and meet those expectations. Vise versa.

Thought #40: Your attitude can determine a lot.

Thought #41: Remember who you are and whose you are. This is another saying my youth minister used to always say. When someone goes out, you should always remember who you are and that you are God’s child and someone loves you no matter what.

Thought #47: Don’t fight the place that God has set you in.

Thought #53: Appreciate the life style you have. When I feel very stressed out, or I have a lot of problems going on in my life, I go on late night therapy drives. It helps me work everything out in my head but I am also very thankful for the life I have. People don’t ever really think about how lucky they are in today’s society. There are a numerous amount of people who are struggling far worse than we are.

Thought #59: You can believe that bad things are being done to you, or that they’re being done for you. God has a plan for you and it is always for our good whether we realize that or not.

Thought #66: Why do people have to be so mean to others? This has never made sense to me. People are so quick to be rude and discourage others because they feel like it, but if it were the other way they would not want that for themselves. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Thought #72: Extraordinary grace helps build a loving community.

Thought #76: We don’t always agree with what other people do, and that’s okay. Not everyone has the same process of how they go through life.

Thought #77: You are at your happiest when you learn to love somebody else. Loving yourself is cheap. Loving someone else brings us joy.

Thought #84: Actually knowing what is going on in class and understanding it makes the class so much better to be in.

Thought #89: Being an athlete, I have come to the realization that I am not motivated every day to accomplish things. You have to be disciplined enough to get over the lack of motivation so you can still do it. You can’t get any better by just thinking about getting better.

Thought #91: Be kind to yourself. Thinking negative things about yourself will affect you more than you know.

Thought #96: Having friendships with people who understand you and are always down to be spontaneous with you is one of the best things you can have in this world. They make any bad day into a good one.

Thought #100: You can not do anything without God.
